John Edward Beck, “Tubby”, 82, a former resident of Hyattsville and Dunkirk, MD, passed away on October 13, 2025, in Annapolis, MD, surrounded by his family.
John was born on February 9, 1943, in Washington, DC, to the late Edward George, Jr., and Cecelia Blanche Beck.

John graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville and then attended the University of Maryland.  He went on to work at C&P Telephone, where he eventually retired. After retiring, John remained active by taking on various jobs and was widely known as a "Jack of all Trades."

He was a member of the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department, the Telephone Pioneers, the Terrapin Club, and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Fields. He enjoyed University of Maryland Sports, coaching youth sports, and watching his grandkids play sports.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Naomi “Nina” Beck, and his brother, George Beck.

He is survived by his children, Johnny Beck and his wife Jeanette of West River, Judy Beck of Glen Burnie, James Beck of Huntingtown, and Jennifer Lyons and her husband, Eric of Davidsonville, MD, one sister, Peggy Green of Odenton, MD. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Josh Beck and his wife, Samantha, Jessica MacRae and her husband, Corey, Justin Wood and his wife, Alexandra, Jordon Wade and her husband, Sonny, Jeremy Beck and his wife, Jessica, Tanner Beck and his wife, Kiley, Jack Lyons, and Jason Lyons, and 16 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to either the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, or to a charity of your choice in John’s memory.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11am at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave S, Millersville, MD 21108. Lillian Christine “Lily” Mali, age 70 and a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died on October 13, 2025, with her family by her side. Born in Annapolis on November 5, 1954, she was a devoted wife and mother, while also working as a Title Processor for many years before retiring as an Administrative Assistant at the District Court.

Lily had a special relationship with each of her siblings and spoke of them often. Playing cards and getting together for holidays was something she cherished. She took great pride in hosting Christmas every year. As Lily grew older, she assumed the role of Nana. Her favorite role yet. Her grandbabies were her number one source of joy.  She loved having sleepovers, snuggling and sharing lots of sweet treats.  Lily enjoyed sharing a meal and laughter with family, especially over Thanksgiving, which was her favorite holiday.  She loved the beach, especially summer vacations in OCMD. Some of her favorite things were soaking up the sun, chocolate nuggets, good music, soap operas, the game show network, traveling and a good ice cold fountain coke.  She accepted people as they were and knew how to make anyone feel special. Her love for others was her greatest quality.

Lily is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael Mali; two daughters, Erin Youngs (and her husband Scott) of Arnold and Kristin Canevazzi (and her husband Adam) of Annapolis; her stepdaughter, Stacie Mali of Seaford, DE; her sister, Mary Lamb (and her husband Jimmy); her grandchildren, Jacob Canevazzi, Lily Canevazzi, Dean Canevazzi, Hope Mali, Brittany Lugasi and Christopher Walters; and her great-grandchildren, Lawson and Wren Lugasi.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored, and two great nieces who she shared an undeniable bond with, Riley and Sloane Tomaselli. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Libby Wilkinson,  and her three brothers, Michael, Tommy and Bill Wilkinson.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lily’s life on Sunday, October 19 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, October 20 at 10:30 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis. To share memories and honor the life of Lily, the family invites you to join them for a celebration of life at the Annapolis Elks Lodge immediately following the burial. Steven Maurice Greene of Oxon Hill, Maryland passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2025, at the age of 60.

Steven was the only child born to Frank and Helen Greene. Entering this life on March 5, 1965, Steven was a lifelong resident of Oxon Hill. After graduation from high school, Steven attended Brevard College in North Carolina for two years before returning to Maryland to work with the United States Capitol Police in 1988. Steven dedicated 37 years of his life serving the USCP, starting as a Communications Dispatcher and rising to Operations Support Assistant before retiring in 2025.

Steven will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life. He was described as “smiling with his eyes” every time he talked to people about work, the Redskins/Commanders, or the latest superhero movies.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen. He leaves behind extended family and dear friends spanning the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Allen G. Brown, better known as "Huckle" or "Brownie," passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at age 76, surrounded by family. He was a longtime resident of Lothian, MD and was born on October 9, 1949, in Washington, DC to Charlotte Arvella Southard.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Jeanette, whom he married in December 1978. His three sons William “Bill” F. Luckett, David A. Brown (Michele) and Michael N. Brown (Kerrie) as well as his grandchildren Lou Brown, Brianna Brown and Kyle Stout. His stepfather William “Billy” Dove. His siblings John Brown, William Brown (Kathy), Denise Wells (Doug), Lynn Dove (Dr. Michael Edenfield) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Charlotte Dove and his sisters Phyllis Davidson and Anita Martin. 

Huckle was raised in Camp Springs and Clinton, Maryland by his devoted mother, Charlotte. As the eldest of seven siblings, he developed an early passion for tractors, trucks, and outdoor activities alongside his brothers and sisters. Demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude from a young age, he possessed a remarkable ability to repair various items. By his teenage years, he was rebuilding lawnmowers and car engines, as well as assembling salvaged vehicles to restore them to working condition.

At 16, once he was able to drive, he took a job to help his mother support his siblings while continuing high school to graduate. After finishing high school, he began working in excavating and heavy equipment, launching his career by driving a dump truck for GLY Development and still doing mechanical work for family and friends.

It was at GLY where he earned his second popular nickname “Brownie”. Brownie was GLY’s “Ace in the Hole.” Not only could he run circles around all the other drivers, only a few people there knew he could turn wrenches, including Buddy Farr. He knew Brownie had a keen mechanical and diagnostic ability on trucks and heavy equipment, mostly Mack’s and Caterpillars, but he really could fix anything you gave him. This was when he started making a name for himself in the DC Metro area. 

After several years at GLY, he joined Buddy Farr Excavating in 1977. Together with some colleagues, he helped build a shop in Forestville, MD, marking the beginning of his peak years. While Buddy was the owner, Huckle Brown essentially operated the business, serving as the mechanic for all trucks and equipment. More than just a parts changer, he specialized in diagnosing, rebuilding, and repairing machinery. For two decades, Huckle was the Lowboy Driver, proudly caring for a custom-built 1973 Mack R-600 Maxidyne that he personally picked up from the plant in Allentown, PA. That was his baby! He continued driving that truck for both GLY and Buddy Farr until 1993.

He took on every role imaginable: welding, painting, using heavy machinery, driving a dump truck, and countless other tasks. He was a superb mentor for anyone eager to learn—so long as you could keep a steady hold on a flashlight!

Brownie was known across the Metro area as the go-to expert for heavy equipment and trucks, taking on many side jobs in the 1980s. He earned his third nickname "Doc"; short for Dr. Brown because if he couldn't fix something, no one could.

He joined Metrex Excavating and DC Materials in 1993, working on heavy equipment and trucks while mentoring younger mechanics. Later, he managed the Topsoil plant at Daisy Lane until retiring in 2018, increasing its profits substantially during his tenure… One thing he was strict about was tailgate etiquette—slamming it meant being banned from the yard!

Huck’s main interests revolved around automobiles. He had a passion for classic cars, street rods, and he loved building vehicles. Circle track racing and riding motorcycles also brought him joy. In his twenties, Huck and some friends built a few race cars that they competed with at local tracks on weekends, often spending evenings after work making repairs and improvements. It was at one of these races in the late 1970s where he met the love of his life Jeanette, who would become his wife. After marrying, they settled in Lothian, MD, and remained there to raise their family. Known as a strong man and a good man, He was both a devoted husband and father. He was a great cook, a skill he picked up from his mother. If someone wronged him, he wasn’t shy about speaking up. He instilled important values in his sons, teaching them to respect women, appreciate the value of money, maintain a solid work ethic, and to always stand up for their beliefs. 

Huck also taught his boys how to float gears with a Jake brake, how to weld and how to turn wrenches. More importantly he taught them how to be a man’s man. He also enjoyed spending time with his entire family on Sundays at Granny’s house. Huckle fully supported his eldest son Bill at the Special Olympics every year at the Naval Academy. He may have had a rough and tough exterior, but if you cracked him, he was a loving man and a softy for animals, especially his dogs. 

He cared deeply for his grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling and spending time with them, particularly during the holidays. He valued Lou and B.B.’s weekly visits and took pride in making those occasions special.

His service will be private. A celebration of life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 1:30pm at the American Legion Post 226, 830 E. Central Avenue, Edgewater, MD 21037.

Robert A. Gray, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Annapolis, Maryland. “Bob,” as he was known by family and friends, was a Maryland resident until 2006 when he retired to Northwestern Florida, and then returned to Maryland in September 2024.
 
Bob was born on June 10, 1942 to James A. Gray, Sr. and Ellen G. Gray (nee Shurtleff) of Hyattsville, Maryland. A graduate of Northwestern High School’s Class of 1960, he worked for Giant Foods before becoming a skilled tower crane operator and International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local #77 member for 20 years. He also taught at IUOE’s Joint Apprentice Training Center in Accokeek, MD. Two decades later, he acquired a new set of skills and became an HVAC specialist at the U.S. Department of Interior in Washington, D.C. from which he retired with nearly 21 years of service (2006).
 
Bob was a people person who loved conversation and making others laugh. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, waterskiing, and nature, in general—particularly exotic birds. Living near the Chesapeake Bay, he spent countless hours boating, waterskiing and hanging out with his family and friends on the Rhode and West Rivers. Additionally, he had a passion for bluegrass music and was a determined banjo student for about 30 years. He loved playing at local music “jams” with others who shared his enthusiasm. 
 
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his former wife of 44 years, Valerie J. Gray (nee Boteler) (2020); their son, Robert A. Gray, Jr. (2010); and Bob’s younger brother, Gary Gray (2007).
 
He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Gray Kinstler, and son-in-law, Jay Kinstler, of Harwood, MD; and two grandchildren, Brad Kinstler (and wife, Morgan, and great-granddaughter Eleanor Grace) of Arnold, MD; and Nick Kinstler of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by two brothers, James A. Gray, Jr. (and wife, Neta) of Olney, MD; and Donald Gray (and wife, Bonnie) of Montgomery Village, MD; as well as nine beloved nieces and nephews.
 
A memorial gathering will be held on October 23, 2025, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.

Marilyn Phillips Chance, 81, a twenty-four-year resident of Annapolis, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Marilyn was born on October 2, 1944, in Manchester, CT to the late Fred and Ruth Phillips. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Nursing before beginning her career as a nurse. She rose to become the head nurse at Manchester Hospital, where she met the love of her life—and her future husband—Tom Chance, who was her patient at the time.

A devoted woman of God, Marilyn lived her faith daily. She was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene, where she sang in the choir, read the Bible cover to cover, led Bible studies in her home, and made sure the seniors in her community could always get to church by faithfully driving them herself.

In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed cheering on UConn basketball, visiting Martha’s Vineyard, volunteering with senior citizens, and laughing with her friends. Her life took her to several states—including Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland—and wherever she went, she built lasting friendships. Known for being friendly, cheerful, and deeply caring, she cherished lifelong friendships, keeping in touch by letters and phone calls, and was a prolific letter writer who made sure no birthday ever passed without a thoughtful card in the mail. Her greatest joy was spending time with and loving her grandchildren, whose photos filled every square inch of her home.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, John Phillips. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Thomas F. Chance; her son, Stephen T. (Caroline Casagrande) Chance of Middletown, NJ; her grandsons, Harrison and Theodore Chance; and her granddaughter, Margot Chance.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to Stonecroft Ministries (<a href="https://www.stonecroft.org/donate/">online here</a>).

Marilyn will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her boundless kindness, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.

Bryan Keith Slaughenhoupt, 50, of Deale, Maryland, passed away on October 8, 2025. He was born on October 26, 1974 in Bethesda, Maryland.

After graduating from high school, Bryan went on to get his Masters Degree in Business Administration at the University of Maryland. He spent most of his career working as Vice President of Victor Stanley Inc. He was an avid inventor and technology architect. Over the course of his 28-year career, he held multiple patents and awards for his designs and solutions.

Bryan had a deep love for music that spanned throughout his life. He was a talented guitarist and could learn to play any instrument. He received his first guitar as a gift from his parents when he was a teenager. Throughout his teenage years, he was in several bands and would often have jam sessions with his friends. He was an avid reader and incredibly talented artist who loved to draw and would often create art with his daughters. He was always creating and one of his fondest memories of his childhood was building a toy race car with his grandfather. He also loved skateboarding in his youth and had many fond memories of those years with friends in his hometown of Butler, Pennsylvania. He’s loved hats since the age of 2 and was always known to be sporting one.

He liked exploring his spirituality and enjoyed meditating, reading about Buddhism, and had recently made a trip to a monastery in New York as well. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors with his beloved dog, Kiwi, and going for hikes. He loved animals and deeply cared about his pets that had passed on; his cat Clyde and his dogs Bella and Lola.

Bryan is survived by his two loving daughters, Sophia and Emma Slaughenhoupt; his beloved parents, Donald and Sandra Doerr; sister, Stacey (Erik) Snyder; and his brother Timothy (Sarah) Doerr. He also leaves behind several aunts and uncles, 4 nephews, one niece and a bouquet of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Corwyn Keith “Buck” and Betty Jane Cadwallader.

Friends are invited to celebrate Bryan’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD on Saturday, November 15 from 3 PM until the start of his memorial service at 4 PM. Patricia “Patsy” Sue Hobgood, age 66, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on October 7, 2025 of natural causes.

Born on October 30, 1958, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Patsy lived a full and joyful life centered around faith, family, and community. She spent 28 wonderful years in Annapolis, raising her three sons and working for Anne Arundel County Public Schools at Rolling Knolls Elementary School. Patsy truly loved working with children—so much so that it was fondly said she knew the name of every child in the county.

Before settling in Annapolis, she lived in Chesapeake, Virginia; Charleston, South Carolina; Marlton, Maryland; and Princeton, New Jersey. Wherever she went, she built lasting friendships and created a warm, welcoming home.

Patsy had a deep love for cooking and reading, and she was happiest when surrounded by family and friends—especially during backyard pool parties and holiday gatherings. Her warmth, laughter, and ability to make every celebration special will be deeply missed.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John Clifford Brown and Margaret “Peggy” Brown, as well as her siblings Steven Brown and Barbara Hanbury. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, David Wayne Hobgood; her three loving sons, Paul Taylor Hobgood, John Clifford Hobgood, and Michael Joseph Hobgood and his wife, Sarah; and her cherished grandsons, Jonah Michael Hobgood and Elijah James Hobgood.

Patsy is also survived by her siblings William (Chris) Brown of Bradenton, FL, Michael Brown of Bradenton, FL, Susan Viering of Frankford, DE, Wayne Brown of Annapolis, MD, Patrick Brown of Great Mills, MD and Pamela Slough of Silver Spring, MD.

Patsy will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, Maryland. A graveside  service will be on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery, N. Wall Street, Benson, North Carolina. Margaret Mary Cannon, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6th, 2025, in the home she shared with her devoted husband of 16 years, Richard Horne. One of five children, she was born on August 27th, 1948, in Wilmington, DE to the late James and Genivieve Cannon.  She is predeceased by her brother, James Cannon (Nanette), and survived by her beloved younger brother, Joseph Cannon (Nahid), sisters Catherine and Mary Elizabeth, and daughter Alyssa Cozzillio (Trey Capozzoli). She also leaves behind her amazing “bonus” children, Jennifer Roman (Steve), Daniel Horne, Shannon Pressley (Duncan), and Sky Horne (Amanda); grandchildren Owen, Eliza, Cheyenne, William, August, Evelyn, and June; and several nieces and nephews and their children.   

Margaret graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Art’s degree in French and went on to earn a master’s degree in psychology and a doctorate in pastoral counseling from Loyala College.  She was a member of the Anne Arundel County Public School System for over 35 years, serving first as a French teacher and guidance counselor, then ultimately as a dedicated school psychologist at Broadneck Senior High School in Annapolis, where she worked until her retirement in 2013. Students of all ages found a confidante, ally, sounding board, advisor, advocate, comforter, and friend in “Dr. Cannon”, and it was through her that they could find both a voice and their way when it seemed no one else would listen or help light the path ahead. 

Margaret loved life, and she truly lived it the way a life is meant to be lived. Whether she was adventuring the globe with her family and friends, scrapbooking in her crafting space, perusing the greeting card selection at Barnes and Noble, or eating an ice cream cone somewhere on the water, she was always in her element-- joy. She could enjoy an afternoon on the Isle of Capri and breakfast at the Double T Diner in equal measure if she was spending time with the people she cared about most, and it was a precious gift for them to be in the company of her beautiful and gracious spirit.  

A memorial gathering for Margaret will be held on October 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD where a memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm for those wishing to say goodbye, share a memory, or simply pay a quiet visit to the family.

Thomas O’Donnell Foerter
October 24, 1957 - October 5, 2025

Thomas "Tom" O’Donnell Foerter, a 43-year resident of Greenbelt, Maryland, and native of Lanham, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 67.

Tom was known for his humor, kindness, and generosity. A proud father and grandfather, lovingly known as “PopPop”, he brought laughter and light to everyone he met. His quick wit and love of “dad jokes” were as much a part of him as his harmonica, which he played often and with joy.

He loved good conversation, helping others, and cheering for his favorite team, the Washington Redskins (Commanders). Tom lived a life filled with music, family, and community, leaving behind countless fond memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Justin Foerter, his father, Conrad Foerter, and his mother, Adele Foerter.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristel Rabideau; his son, William Keith; his grandson, Luka Rabideau; and his siblings, Dan Foerter, Beth Kimbler, and Dave Foerter. He also leaves behind extended family and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory, his laughter, and the warmth he shared so freely.

William “Butch” E. Johnson, II, 78, a 51-year resident of Riva, MD passed away on October 3, 2025. Born on October 4, 1946 in Roanoke, VA, he was adopted by the late William E. Johnson, Sr. and Dora E. Johnson, Butch attended some college before working in the telecommunications sector for Bell Atlantic and Verizon. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, studying Civil War & history, watching sports, taking walks and hanging out with his family.

Butch is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joanne R. Johnson. He is survived by his three sons, Bob (Donna) Johnson of Fisherville, VA, Matt (Bonnie) Johnson of Woodstock, GA, and Dan (Sarah) Johnson of Annapolis, MD; his daughter, Christin (Bud) Newman of Temecula, CA; his grandsons, Caleb Johnson, Carter Johnson, Evan Johnson, and Buel Newman; and his granddaughters, Alissa Johnson, Meaghan Johnson, and Amiette Newman.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate William's life on Friday, October 10 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, where a memorial service will begin at 2:30 pm.

Reginald Ambrose Biscoe, also known as Reggie, was born August 11, 1935 in Washington, DC to the late Ralph A. Sr and Elizabeth G. Biscoe.  He departed this life on October 3, 2025.  

Reggie, a native Washingtonian, graduated from Cardoza High School in 1953.  After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in London, England.  After the military, he began his decorated career at the United States Postal Service where he started as a clerk and was later promoted to management. Reggie was promoted to Manager of Labor Relations and received numerous distinguished awards before retiring after 30 years of service in 1990.  

In 1960, Reggie met Phyllis Dickens, from Pinetops, North Carolina on a blind date.  They were united in marriage on September 2, 1961. To this union, two daughters were born: Monique Regina and Teresa Maria.  Reggie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  

Reggie has called Holy Family Catholic Church his home church since moving to Oxon Hill, MD in 1969.  Because of his love of music and singing, he became one of the founding members of the Holy Family Catholic Church Gospel Choir with his deep baritone voice.  He was also a member of the Grounds Committee, CYO, Parrish Council, and the Men’s Club which hosted crab feasts, jazz concerts, raffle sales, and an annual Mother’s Day Breakfast. 

Gatherings with family and friends were his pride and joy. Family vacations every summer were adventurous as he relied on his daughters Monique and Teresa to read the Rand McNally Road Atlas and pick the destination and attractions along the way. With his camcorder in hand, Reggie captured many of the memorable events.  

Reggie was very passionate about the Washington Redskins/Commanders and held season tickets for many decades at the RFK Stadium in Washington, DC.  He loved to talk football - especially with Dallas Cowboys fans!  Another passion was spending time at the country house in St. Mary’s County playing the keyboard and singing with family and friends every holiday.  He learned to play the piano by ear, from his father. Everyone looked forward to sitting on the porch singing music by real artists as well as concocting our own songs, dancing, playing various instruments, playing cards, or reading poems until the wee hours of the morning.  The nickname of these activities on the porch was “The Porch Lounge”.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph A. & Elizabeth G. Biscoe; one brother Ralph A. Biscoe, Jr.; one nephew Joseph Reginald Rivers, Jr; one great niece Jewell M. Rivers-Manley.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Biscoe; one sister Shirley Biscoe-Bell; daughters Monique Coleman (Ronald); Teresa Marshall (Kevin); five Grandchildren: Ashlie Monique, Taylor Juanita, John Reginald, Alexis Chrishell, and Charles Anthony; five great grandchildren: Cameron Christian, Harold William IV, Camari Taylor, Levi Ambrose, and Sarah Maria; one Godchild: Brittney Jones; and a host of family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Reginald's Life Celebration on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 9 A.M. until the start of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2210 Callaway Street, Hillcrest Heights MD 20748. Paul Robert “Bob” Wehr, 88, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 in Pasadena, MD. He spent the last 3 years living at Brightview Senior Living in Annapolis, MD.

Bob spent his early years in Shamokin, PA. After graduating from high school in 1954, he moved to Washington, DC to begin his career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In 1962, Bob received permission from J. Edgar Hoover to resign from the FBI and become General Manager for SAMBA (Special Agents Mutual Benefits Association). During that time, he graduated from Benjamin Franklin University with an ABA degree in Accounting.

After many successful years, Bob retired from SAMBA in 1990. He began working for the Boy Scouts of America (National Capital Area Council) and retired from BSA after 12 years.

Bob’s greatest passion was the Boy Scouts of America. He became active as a Scoutmaster for Troop 403 in Bowie, MD when his son Paul became a Scout. When Paul received his Eagle, Bob continued to be an active Scouter for the rest of his life. Through Scouting he learned a new skill in teaching Scouts how to scuba dive, and a new hobby began. Bob completed 100 dives in various locations from the Caribbean to Hawaii.

Bob was an active member of the Society of FBI Alumni, Inc. He held many positions with the Society and was a founding member of the Northern Virginia chapter of the Society. Publishing “The Informant” for 4 years was one of his biggest achievements.

Retiring to Frederick, MD in 2005, Bob was very active serving on the Worman’s Mill Conservancy and the Worman’s Mill Civic Association.

A few qualities that Bob most admired were common sense, adaptability, empathy, honesty, and volunteering. He was truly a giving and compassionate man, always trying to be kind and helpful to everyone.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Judith, whom he married on August 24, 1991; his brother, Harry Wehr; his sister, Jeannie Szcepkowski; as well as his sons, Paul H. Wehr and Mark R. Wehr; and his daughter, Barbara Mervine. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Evelyn Gauntlett, Ainsley Mervine, Thomas Golden, Jessie Kohout, Sarah Kirasack, Tyler Golden, Donovan Wehr, and one great-grandson, Caspian Gauntlett.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11 AM at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD 21037 with a reception to follow.

Danielle “Dee” Pironto, 83, a 50-year resident of N.E. Washington, DC passed away on September 30, 2025 in Edgewater, MD from natural causes. Born on December 2, 1941 in Stamford, CT to the late Daniel Pironto, Sr. and Josephine Mardula, Dee graduated from high school before working for the federal government in the General Accounting Office. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her pets and watching television. She also had a passion for food. In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Pironto, Jr. She is survived by her nephews, Danny and Tony Pironto; her niece, Carol Ann Hall; her sister-in-law, Carol Pironto; and her grand-nephews, John Hall and Jesse Ward. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, or a cerebral palsy charity of your choice.

Dianna Kent passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025.  Born on February 7, 1944 at Providence Hospital in Washington DC, the beloved daughter of Metta Ray Nash and Charles Francis Marks.  She married Clarence "Frank" Kent in 1966, and joined the department of Health and Human Services in 1990, becoming an Investigations Analyst, before retiring in 2010 to pursue her love of reading, gardening and old films.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 24 years, Clarence "Frank" Kent and her brother Charles "Ray" Marks.  Dianna is survived by her son, Curtis, and her sister-in-law Mary, and will have a private burial at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Linus, a charity she provided for over the last decade, which provides handmade blankets to children in need. Please see link attached below. Sandra “Sandy” Leona Taylor, 70, passed away on September 29, 2025 after an eight-and-a-half year, fierce and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her battle, her faith in God never wavered.

Born on October 27, 1954 in Annapolis, MD to the late Kenneth and Emma Taylor, she was a lifelong resident of Edgewater, MD. A graduate of Southern High School class of 1972, Sandy worked early on as a seamstress and was determined to learn the canvas and upholstery trade. She spent fifty-three years in that trade. She passed the Master Fabric Craftsman test and was president of the Chesapeake Marine Canvas Fabricators Association for ten years. She was a former partner of Creations by Taylor and owned Sandy’s Coverings.

Sandy loved teaching Sunday school in church. She was a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoyed going on Orioles cruises for over twenty-five years.

Sandy is survived by her brothers, Michael (Gail) Taylor of Easley, SC, Barry (Sharon) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Dana (Kim) Taylor of Edgewater, MD; her sister, Bonnie Taylor of Edgewater, MD; twelve nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion David Bryant.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life on Friday, October 3 from 6 to 8 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, and again on Saturday, October 4 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Christ Episcopal Church cemetery in Owensville, MD.
