Paul David “Dave” Robey, 58, a 28-year resident of Beverley Beach (Edgewater), Maryland and previously of Selby by the Bay (Edgewater) passed away at his home on August 6, 2026 due to complications of diabetes. Born March 20, 1968 at Anne Arundel Hospital to the late Gwen and Harold Robey, Dave was the youngest of six children. He was an adorable blond-haired baby boy with the brightest smile, an angelic face, and a spirited personality that reminded everyone of Dennis the Menace. Dave spent nearly 90% of his life in Selby Beach, Edgewater, Maryland where he developed a lifelong love for being near the water. From an early age, he learned how to crab off the pier. Crabbing quickly became one of his favorite things to do, second only to eating crabs.
Dave attended school in Edgewater up until high school. He then graduated from the Devereux School in Pennsylvania. He always showed a natural mechanical ability and enjoyed working on and fixing boats. Later, he worked alongside his brother Chuck, who taught him the plumbing trade. Dave went on to work for Local 602 Steamfitters and Plumbers Union with various companies, contributing to projects throughout the Metro DMV area. Dave retired in 2008 due to disability.
Dave was a wonderful father. At age 25, he became a father to his daughter Kensie. He and Kensie shared many adventures together and formed a very special bond. Dave was also a step-parent to Janell and Ryan. In 1997, he joyfully welcomed his son Luke, and in 2002 his son Paul was born. Dave loved his children deeply and carried that love with him until the end. Dave was a husband, father, brother, and friend whose love, laughter, and memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Dave was his happiest when he was in his boat crabbing. He was a fan of NASCAR racing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He especially looked forward to the annual Labor Day camping trip with the Millards and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen Robey; his children, Kensie Weszka of Ellicott City, MD, Janell Bender of Annapolis, MD, Ryan Gigli of Ferndale, MD, Luke Gigli of Edgewater, MD, and Paul D. Robey, Jr. of Edgewater, MD; his siblings, Edward Robey of Edgewater, MD, Chuck Robey of Shady Side, MD, Nancy Barnes of Clover, SC, Dana Unkle of Orlando, FL, and Joan Robey of North Beach, MD; as well as his grandchildren, Hayes Wilkinson of Ellicott City, MD, Mox Bender of Edgewater, MD, Emmi Wilkinson of Ellicott City, MD, and Natalie Gigli of Ferndale, MD.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dave’s life on Sunday, August 23 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Selby Club House, 3715 1st Ave, Edgewater, MD 21037. The family kindly requests that guests bring a dish or dessert if possible. All are welcome to celebrate Dave’s life. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s name to the American Diabetes Association (P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA  22116-7023).

William David Colburn “Dave”, 68, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Annapolis, MD. Born on December 22, 1957, he was a 40-year resident of Edgewater, MD. Following Dave’s time at Annapolis High School, he went on to start his own business; Colburns’ Grass Cutting and retired in 2020. He enjoyed many different activities such as roller-skating, crabbing, working in the yard, wood crafting, poker with his family, and slots.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Mae (neé-Bryan) Hardesty, Kenneth Hardesty, and William W. Colburn. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Stephanie Colburn; his brother, Ray (Lisa) Hardesty of Centreville, MD; his sister, Missy (Johnny) Coursey of Centreville, MD; his nieces, Ashley Buckmaster, Brittany DeShields, and Kayla Hardesty; his nephew, Nick Hardesty; as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Dave battled dementia for 6 years before his savior called him home. He loved to laugh and loved to talk to anyone. He was fun-loving and easy-going and had a beautiful smile, he was truly loved by all.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dave’s life on Friday, August 14 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD where a funeral service will be held at 12 PM. Interment will follow the service at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD.

Patricia Margaret "Pat" Hanson, 81, of Edgewater, Maryland, after a seven-week hospital stay, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at BridgePoint Long-Term Acute Care facility in Washington, D.C. 

Born December 19, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts, Pat dedicated her life to faith, service, and education. She earned a bachelor's degree in Pre-Medicine from Stonehill College. When her dream of attending medical school and becoming a doctor became an impossibility, she rechannelled her energy and joined the Society of Catholic Medical Mission Sisters. She was assigned to a challenging pilot project in Malawi, represented the project at a conference in Uganda, and taught in the hospital and surrounding villages.  When she returned to the United States in 1971, she obtained a Master of Education from The Catholic University of America and she began her career as an accomplished science educator.

Pat taught at St. Cecilia Academy on Capitol Hill and later served for 30 years in Montgomery County Public Schools as a science teacher, department chair, assistant principal, and administrator.  She concluded her distinguished career at the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Maryland, where she served as a science teacher, administrator, and Director of the International Baccalaureate Program. 

A resident of Edgewater for 39 years, Pat enjoyed singing with the Encore Chorale and Naptown Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus. She loved creating handmade cards, spending time in nature, and caring for her beloved dogs and cats. She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet faith, generous spirit, and steadfast commitment to inspiring young people. 

She is survived by her life-long friend Mary Lynne Boss; her brother, Jeffrey Hanson and his wife, Elaine; her nephew, Derek Hanson and his wife, Heather; her nieces, Rebecca Chenard and her husband, David, and Amy Collins and her husband, Alex; six beloved grandnieces and grandnephews; and many cherished friends, former students, and colleagues.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davidsonville, Maryland, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.

Jo Marie Wilkinson, 78, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 17, 1947, and throughout her life she gave her heart freely to everyone, fortunate enough to know her. Jo Marie was the kind of person who made others feel at home simply by being with her. She had a rare gift for making people laugh, lifting spirits with her quick wit and warm smile, and showing genuine kindness in every interaction. Friends described her as "such a beautiful soul. I love spending time with her—it's a gift, really," "the most caring lady I know," and "the funniest and nicest person I know." Those words perfectly capture the woman her family was blessed to call Mom, Nana, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family. She was the beloved mother of William Michael Wilkinson, Jr. (Helen), Michele Lee Norton and Jessica Marie Gill (James); the proud and devoted grandmother of Tyler James Gill (Heather), Dakota Lee Norton, Ryan X. Baca, Shayne Ashton, Aubrea Lyric and Henley Jade Gill; the loving great-grandmother of Grayson Tyler and Aspen Roe Gill and loving sister of Mary Elizabeth Lamb (Jimmy). Each of them carried a special place in her heart, and her love for them was constant and unconditional. Jo Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Michael Wilkinson Sr., and her cherished grandson, Nathan Bryce Gill. While her family finds comfort in imagining their joyful reunion, her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. Although our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the years we shared with her. Her kindness, laughter, strength, and unconditional love will continue to guide us. The lessons she taught, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely will live on in every life she touched. To know Jo Marie was to be loved by her. Her beautiful soul will never be forgotten, and her legacy of compassion, humor, and unwavering love will remain in our hearts forever. "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of those, we've lost shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."

A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD on Monday, August 10 at 12 noon.

In Loving Memory of Daniel Wayne Dove

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Wayne “Dan the Man” Dove, who passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 51.

Born on August 26, 1974, in Annapolis, Maryland, Danny lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. He had a gift for making people smile and was truly the life of every party. His infectious sense of humor and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. If you knew Danny, you loved him.

Danny was the beloved son of Vickie DiPietro and the late Wilson Howard Dove III. He was also blessed to have the love and support of his stepfather, Keith Fleischhauer.

He also leaves behind his loving sister, Lindsay Robinson; his brother-in-law, Bradley Robinson; and his niece, Rylie Robinson, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Danny found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved swimming, watching television, listening to country music, going out to dinner and—believe it or not—folding laundry. He had a personality that could brighten any room and a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037, where his funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.

Lt. Colonel Dale August Sommerfeld, U.S. Air Force Retired, completed his final mission on July 28, 2026, undoubtedly arriving at his next assignment with a perfectly organized itinerary, a well-reasoned opinion, and at least three questions for whoever was in charge. 
Born on September 11, 1937, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, to August and Sigrid (Horne) Sommerfeld, Dale was the youngest of six children and grew up on his family’s farm, where he developed the discipline, curiosity, work ethic, and love of learning that would shape the rest of his life.
Dale dedicated 20 years of service to the United States Air Force, serving proudly as an officer, decorated veteran, and rocket scientist. His career, which included overseas duties in Korea and Germany, reflected intelligence, discipline, integrity, and deep love of country. He understood the realities of war through his work in missile defense and carried with him a lasting appreciation for the precious value of peace.
While serving in the Air Force, Dale also pursued his lifelong passion for education, ultimately earning six degrees. He brought that same curiosity and precision to every part of life—as a mentor, volunteer, tutor, small business adviser, spirited debater, and enthusiastic family game-night participant. At family games, he was famous for finding the answer no one else considered, as he did during Trivial Pursuit when asked where a plane was if it landed at Reagan Airport. While others answered “Washington, D.C.,” Dale insisted the correct answer was “on its wheels,” then delivered a lawyer-worthy argument for why he deserved the pie piece. To those who knew him best, he will be remembered not only for his intellect, but for his humor, his perfectly timed “Well... technically,” and his ability to make others think more deeply.
Dale is preceded in death by love of his life, Darlene, who he met at a Wisconsin county fair when she was 12 and he was a 13-year-old Boy Scout. She pretended to be lost so he could “find” her, beginning a love story that would span more than seven decades. They were married for 65 years, though Darlene preferred to count from the day he found her, making it 71. Together, Dale and Darlene shared the calling and sacrifices of military life, raised a family, served their communities, and built a legacy rooted in faith, service, learning, laughter, and love. Their devotion was reflected in grand gestures and small rituals alike, including the chocolate martini Dale perfected for her with a Hershey’s Kiss in place of the olive. 
Dale and Darlene’s legacy lives on through their children, Collin (Trish) Sommerfeld and Amy (Todd) Rawlings; their grandchildren, Mallory (Brandon) Jenkins, Brittany (Dennis) Waldron, Aaron (Megan) Foscue, and Kacie Edwards; and their eight great-grandchildren, Mariah, Isaac, Nathan, Micah, Hannah, Zoey, Lucas, and Ava.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dale’s caregivers for their compassionate and loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dale’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the lives of both Dale and Darlene on Saturday, August 22 at 11 am at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Dale and Darlene will be interred together at a later date.
