illiam Albert Kleeberg, Sr passed away of natural causes peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 25th, 2024. Bill was born in Annapolis, Maryland on April 5, 1929, to Albert Kleeberg and Georgiana Flood Kleeberg. He was always proud to say he grew up in Eastport. In 1951 he married his High School sweetheart, Hazel Kathleen (Kay) Garner. They were married over 32 years before her passing in 1983. He went on to spend nearly 40 years with his beloved partner and companion Lillian Peacock. Bill retired as postmaster of the Edgewater post office after 32 years of service in the USPS. In retirement Bill and Lil enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers at his home in Ocean City Maryland. Bill was affectionately known as “Coach” to a whole generation of young men in the Annapolis community. He spent many hours coaching Little League baseball and football in his younger years with St. Mary's and the Elks. In addition to his partner Lillian Peacock, Bill is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen “Kathie” Sulick of Harness Creek, Annapolis and Patricia “Patty” Curry and Michelle Pumphrey (Dave) of Selby on the Bay, Edgewater. Grandchildren: Sandra Burnett (Larry), April Cole (Nick), Joseph “JJ” Sulick, Jenna Marquardt and four great grandchildren: Brendan and Emily Cantler and Bradley and Evie Cole. In addition to his wife Kay, he is also predeceased by his son William Albert “Billy” Kleeberg, Jr. sisters: Mary Kauffman and Margaret Asquith. The family would like to thank the kind nurses and staff of Bayada Health and Hospice of Chesapeake. Family and friends may call at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM, where a memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122.
