Joseph Quail Long - Obituary

oseph Quail “Joe” Long, 93, a longtime resident of Annapolis and previously of Silver Spring, MD and Pembrook Pines, FL, died April 13, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA on December 19, 1930 to the late Joseph and Gladys Long, he graduated from Greenbelt High School while living with his family as one of the original first families of the planned Greenbelt community. He worked as a technician in the printing business, and he loved pickleball, ping pong and billiards. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary V. Long, who died in 2014. He is survived by his daughters, Victoria (Dennis) Renehan of Eldorado, MD and Carol (Darryl) Harriday of Ellicott City, MD; his grandchildren, Nicholas Alexander Harriday, Dru Harriday and Georgia Louise Fried; his sister in law, Barbara A. Wyatt; a host of nieces and nephews, and numerous close friends at Heritage Harbour. Family and friends are invited to Joe’s viewing and life celebration on Saturday, April 20 from 1-4 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.
