arold Eugene “Hal” Burdette, Jr., 80, a resident of Silver Spring, MD died at The Montgomery Hospice Casey House in Rockville on Saturday, April 27, after a two year struggle with cancer. Born on November 3, 1943 in Savannah, GA to the late Marie Morris and Harold E. Burdette, Sr., Hal graduated from Wheaton High School and earned an associate’s degree from Montgomery College. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and later worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Hal enjoyed reading, woodworking, jewelry making, crafting, sailing and archery. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Curry Burdette; his son, Michael “Sean” (Jacqueline Bunting) Burdette of Collierville, TN; his sister, Sara Burdette Compton of Biglerville, PA and his granddaughters, Brinley Mae, Carlyn Grace and Chase Olivia Burdette. In addition to his parents, Hal was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Oliver Burdette. Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 3 at 1 pm at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 900 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD.
