Regine Adela “Jean” Farley of Edgewater and previously Hyattsville, MD, passed away at the age of 100 on June 15, 2020 at Brightview South River. Born February 3, 1920 in Dante, SD to the late Frank J. and Matilda M. Hamberger Hakl, Jean graduated from high school and began a 20-year banking career in Wagner, SD. Later, while living in San Francisco, CA, Jean worked in the business office of a parking garage. After her marriage, Jean focused on making a comfortable home for her husband and children and supporting them in all their pursuits. She was an active parishioner at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hyattsville where she was a member of the parish’s Senior Club and Ladies’ Sodality. Jean also enjoyed reading, shopping at yard sales and antique stores, and traveling with her husband. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert D. Farley who died in 1992; her brother, Steven J. Hakl and sisters, Bertha D. Petrik, Sylvie Hakl, Lillian C. Knott and Marthe M. Gordon. She is survived by her children, Robert Farley and Mary Farley; two grandchildren, Daniel Farley and Melissa Bell and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. Jean will be buried with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 91 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
