Michael Jones of Shady Side, MD, died on January 3, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and John Jones, his brother Rick and sister Katie. He is survived by his brother Bryan Jones of Virginia, his two sons Daniel of Missouri and Andrew of Maryland, and his grandson Barrett. Mike loved sailing, flying, hunting, time with friends and, most of all spending time with his family.

Friends are invited to celebrate Michael's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Saturday, January 18 from 12 pm until his memorial service begins at 1 pm.

Mike was a pilot for Angel Flight, and it brought great joy to his heart to be able to help those who needed it. Angel Flight is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community by providing free air transportation to children and adults with medical conditions who need treatment far from home. The help that pilots provide is huge, so please consider donating, and know is very much appreciated by those who receive the help. Mike, I called him “Silent Mike “ and I shared a fondness for like things. We traded items and talked about our hunting escapades! E would stop by the house occasionally and talk about his latest pelt foray.
I’ll miss him!

I’ve known Mike for 45 + yrs . What a Great Guy ! Some how we ended up living in Shady Side along with a few other friends that grew up together. When I use to run into Mike , He always had a smile on his face . Greeted me with a kiss on my cheek & a hug !!! Loved his bright blue eyes that seemed to be full of life & his great big smile from ear to ear . I will have very fond memories of him . I will truly miss running into him . Prayers & Hugs to his family and Friends !!!! May he Rest In Peace . 😇❤️😢😘

Mike and Lady Marion were part of a special group at the marina. He loved his First Mate, Suzy, and crew member, Ula. They made the friendship even more special for us. We felt lucky to have met his father and son Andy and a few years back as well.

Mike was quiet and unassuming, but he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye when he saw you. That's how we will remember him.
