Loyd Edward Hounshell, of Davidsonville, Maryland, left us on, March 7, 2020. Ed is survived by half-brothers Ray and Tim Hounshell, half-sisters Aletha Vathananonh and Laura Sholes, stepmother Genevieve Hounshell, his two sons Jason & Jacob Hounshell along with 15 nieces and nephews.
Ed was a dedicated father, husband, and friend. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand. His passion was automobiles and could be seen frequently driving his award-winning custom 1953 Chevy Belair around town that he built from scratch. Ed enjoyed success at every turn as a crane operator, a tool salesman, and finally a heavy equipment salesman.

Mr. Hounshell was my 2nd dad. He took me into his home along with his wife, Kathy back in 1991. Jason and Jake were my best friends from school (3rd grade) and from that time on I was always part of the family. He would tell me, “Ben, if you knock on my door again, don’t come back. Just walk in, son.” He took me with his family to NASCAR races, go-kart races, let me be on his pit crew for the Super Truck, and never turned me away. He and I even talked about going to the Daytona 500 in his rig someday. I’ve always referred to him right alongside my dad as the kind of man I want to be. He taught me to take great pride in what you own, how to be masculine, and what a real American man is. Most of my memories and experiences outside my own home took place with Ed and Kathy Hounshell’s family. He will never be forgotten. With great affection, Ben Greenwell

My favorite memory of my friend Ed is when he was with Snap-On Tools and a group of us won a trip to Hawaii. Well the ladies were on the beach and the men spent the afternoon at the beach bar. Ed fell in love with the Chi-Chi's they served. By the time we got off the beach to collect our men from the bar, well they we are drunk. Ed was so hiliarious, never seen him that way before. He was really letting loose and having a wonderful time. This is my best and favorite memory of my friend Ed Hounshell.

You fought a good and long fight my friend. You and Kathy are together again. Rest In Peace. You will be missed.
