Kevin had the biggest smile and gave the best hugs !
But his biggest achievement was being a single father who SINGLE handedly raised 3 sons from a young age. Imagine raising three boys...
Go to work, make dinner, clean house, take boys to doctors, sports practice, take them hunting and fishing and be the sole guy your sons come to for all their needs good, bad or ugly kevin’s life revolved around his children.
That said, kevin raised three great, hard working sons that called him their best friend!
How many have that privilege?
Kevin god has a special place for a wonderful single dad whose love of life was infectous.
God speed my friend will miss you.

Kevin worked for Metalbestos in Logan, Ohio, a manufacturer of commercial venting products. Kevin supported our company, United Energy Products, and many others by providing quotations, installation drawings, sizing calculations and advise solving complex venting issues. I learned from a mutual friend that Kevin was contemplating leaving Metalbestos and going work for one of the many rep firms he supported. I called Kevin to add our company name to the those he was considering. Well, just a few months later he packed the family up and headed to Maryland. I felt like we won the lottery. That was 24 years ago.
Kevin not only brought his venting knowledge but also his IT skills. Kevin took us into the digital world and increased our operating efficiencies ten fold.
Kevin provided timely and accurate customer service. Kevin developed a large following of engineers and contractors who went to him with all their venting needs. Those folks will truly miss him.
Kevin was a tremendous asset to UEP and helped us become a major factor and a well respected manufacturer representative in our market areas.
Kevin mentored many of our younger hires over the years including my three sons, Frank, Jeff and Steve. He always took the time to explain complex issues, making them easy to understand. He had a vast knowledge of building codes, U.L. Listings and ASHRAE guidelines that he shared with us and our customers. Kevin worked closely with our manufacturers, explaining issues we had with their products an how to improve them. Many products used today are a result of Kevin’s imput.
Kevin, you were like a son and a brother to me, a son who I helped through difficult times and a brother who helped me the some tough issues. Kevin and Andy Smith, our longest employees, were my sounding boards for many many years. I owe a lot of my success to these two fine people.
Kevin life won’t be the same without you on this planet. It’s going to take time to get used too it for many of us. It does give me comfort to know you are now pain free and in a better place. You suffered so much but took it in stride providing great example to all around you.
You’ve done a wonderful job raising three sons who’ve turned out to be fine young men. I know you were very proud of each of them.
I consider myself a lucky man to have you so close for so many years. You did more for me than I could ever do for you. Thank you so much.
God Bless,
Frank Smollon Sr
