Dennis Earl Shipley of Davidsonville and previously of Edgewater and Olney, MD passed away on Wednesday April 24, 2019. Dennis was born on October 7, 1944 in Washington, DC to the late Everett and Olga Shipley. Dennis spent five years in the Coast Guard before he became an electrician with the Woodward and Lothrop Department Store where he worked as building engineer. After the department store closed in 1995, Dennis went on to work as a building engineer contractor for the DC government. Dennis was known as the "fix-it-guy" always tinkering and looking for something special at garage sales and antique stores. He had a special love for the water, boating, his Labradors, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, June Breeden. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Shipley; his children, Cindy (Dan) Ernst of Severn, MD, Katrina (Dave) Coker of Edgewater, and Christopher (Crystal) of Edgewater; six grandchildren, Taylor, Trent, Hayden, Olivia, Jaxon, and Brooks. Friends are invited to celebrate Dennis' life on Sunday, April 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where a funeral service will be held on Monday, April 29 at 11 am. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403.
