Life Legacy
On Sunday June 10, 2012. Formerly of Froid, MT; Washington, DC; Prince George’s County, MD; Martinsburg, WV; Waldorf, MD; and Alexandria and Arlington, VA. The beloved mother of Linda (Johnson) Montgomery of Swarthmore, PA; Robert Johnson of Martinsburg, WV; and Edith (Johnson) Olson of Springfield, VA. Grandmother of Shawn Simpson, Wayne Simpson, Joy Simpson, Anna Romine, Rebecca Simpson, Joshua Simpson, Erik Olson, Kirsten Olson, Juliana Johnson, Jessica Johnson, and Emmett Justin Johnson. Great-grandmother of 14. Sister of Ida McDaniel of Parkville, MO, and Richard Portra of San Diego, CA. She is predeceased by her other siblings, Delima Yeslineck, Albert Portra, Lora Milligan, Lillian Starkey, and Herman Portra. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and good friend and former husband, Joseph Farri. Caroline was born in Froid, MT, to the late Zeferian and MaryAnn (Parisien) Portra. She retired from the Naval Imaging Command in Anacostia, Washington, DC, in 1988 with over 25 years of federal service in the budget and supply fields. Her many interests included reading, travel, cooking, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Caroline's Life Celebration on Monday, June 18, from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Please leave your thoughts and memories by signing the guestbook located above.
