Winifred Ruth Kidd, age 89, of Edgewater, died on Sunday April 22, 2012 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. Born in Jenners, Pennsylvania on September 10, 1922, Winnie lived there until after graduating high school. During World War II she served in the Navy for two years and then moved to the Washington, DC area. She married Eugene L. Kidd, Sr. in 1946, and together they raised three children in Forestville, MD, later moving to Edgewater.
Winnie stayed at home to raise her children and later worked as a guidance secretary at Suitland High School in Suitland, Maryland. During most of her life, she was an avid bowler and was active in the Lady Lions. She enjoyed water skiing, crocheting, and taking part in the United Methodist Women’s Group of Parkwood United Methodist Church in Edgewater. An enthusiastic Scrabble and blackjack player, Winnie loved reading and looking out over her water views. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life.
Mrs. Kidd is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and a sister who live in Pennsylvania. She will be very much missed and remembered.
