Life Legacy


On April 8, 2012 James D. Wright of Edgewater passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends, after a 9 month battle with lung cancer. Born September 2, 1959 in Portsmouth, VA to the late Frederick J. Wright and the late Naomi Leaman, James graduated Bowie High School in 1977 then entered the IBEW Local Union #26. He was employed by several electrical contractors and retired from over 20 years of service with Power Services, Inc. in February due to his illness. James was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, enjoyed frequent visits with his other family at his second home in Ocean City, listening to music, NASCAR, electronics, and socializing while watching the Redskins or Capitals games with his friends and family at Adam's Ribs. His passion was bicycling with his local 26 bike group and was seen often throughout the Mayo/Edgewater area or in the annual Seagull Century.
He is preceded in death by a son, Mathew James Wright and his step-father, Robert Leaman.
James is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Wright; son James Patrick Wright of Edgewater; step-mother Eleanor Wright of FL; two sisters, Debra Ramos of Middleburg, FL and Tammy Craighead of Pensacola, FL; step-sister Lisa Trail of Poolesville, MD; aunt and uncle, Robert and Pauline Halvorson of New London, MN and numerous other close relatives.
Friends are invited to James' Life Celebration on Tuesday, April 10th from 6-8PM and Wednesday, April 11 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12 at 10AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Edgewater. Interment Our Lady of Sorrows Church Cemetery, West River.
