Life Legacy


Christos Christopoulos, 81, a 43-year resident of Crofton, MD and previously of Washington, D.C. died on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of Alzheimer’s Disease after a 3 year illness.
Born August 20, 1930 in Patras, Greece, he immigrated from Greece in 1951. Christos was employed as a pastry chef, restaurateur, retailer and developer. He was a member of Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis, MD. Christos split his time between Jupiter, FL and Ocean City, MD. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed travelling and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Georgia Zissimos.

Christos is survived by his wife, Sophia Christopoulos; his children, Joann (Joe) Steranka of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Madia (Donald) Toll of Gambrills, MD, John (Ellen) Christopoulos of Arnold, MD, Angela (Tommy) Reins of Knoxville, TN and Nick Christopoulos of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Kasiani Skafidas of Patras, Greece; and seven grandchildren, Alexandra of New York, NY, Christopher of Baltimore, MD Stephen of Miami, FL, Jonathan and Michael of Gambrills, MD, Christo of Arnold, MD, and Lexie of Knoxville, TN.

Friends are invited to Christos’ Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday, March 4 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be held at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD on Monday, March 5 at 11am. Interment St. Demetrios Greek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made online to the Alzheimer’s Association which can be accessed under memorial donations on the left of this page.
