Life Legacy


Margaret Beatson Lombard (Granny), 84, a 35-year resident of Harwood, MD and previously of Forestville, MD died on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Annapolis, MD.

Born May 30, 1927 in Ludlow, MA, she graduated the Georgetown University School of Nursing. Granny was a kind and careful nurse, a wife and best friend of 62 years, a mother of ten, grandmother of 33, great grandmother of 5, a lover of fine art and good books, practiced in the art of mischief, and a good and faithful servant to the Lord.

She was predeceased by one sister, Catherine Lacy of Alexandria VA and one son, Francis W. Lombard of Bel Air, MD.


Granny is survived by her husband, Theodore E. Lombard . whom she married in 1948; two sons, Thomas A. Lombard of Laurel, MD and Joseph C. Lombard of Kenilworth, IL; seven daughters, Julia A. Venuti of Harwood, MD, Catherine M. Langer of Washington, DC, Ann Marie Pessagno of Harwood, MD, Mary M. St. Denis of Riva, MD, Monica L. Phillips of Fairfax VA, Margaret H. Maurizi of Fairfax, VA and Patricia C. Case of Fairfax, VA; two brothers, Robert Beatson of Upper Marlboro, MD and James Beatson of Wilmington, DE. Also survived by 33 grandchildren, Christopher, Nancy, Theodore, Jeremiah, Vincent and Nicholas Venuti, Margaret, Marc, Melissa and Molly Langer, Michael Scott; Joshua, Sarah and Gillian Lombard, Marie and Matthew Pessagno; Richard, Josephine and Alexandra St. Denis, Jonothan Phillips, Drew Barntz Phillips, Alli Phillips, Eilis, Aidan and Declan Lombard; Patrick, Nelia, Grace and Jamie Maurizi, Phillip Case IV; Elizabeth, Zachary and Robert Case and five great-grandchildren, Ava Marie Wilson; Emma Lombard; William Venuti; Sadie Pessagno and Liam Lydon.

Friends are invited to Granny’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Tuesday, December 20 from 6 to 8pm and on Wednesday, December 21 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:30am. Interment private.
